DEF LONGLENG DECLARED CENT PERCENT VACCINATED FORCE

With the conduct of Covid-19 Vaccination Drive on 22nd June 2021 at the office complex of the Superintendent of Police, Longleng, exclusively for Police personnel and their families, the DEF Longleng has declared completion of cent percent Covid-19 first dose vaccine both for police personnel and their families. Maximum police personnel have also completed their second dose during the vaccination drive.

Briefing at the vaccination campaign, District Immunization Officer, Longleng, Dr. Imnameren Phom, informed that it has become the priority to vaccinate the police force because being the frontline workers, they are exposed to the outside world during their duties and have high chances of spreading the virus back to their families and communities. So, with the initiative of the SP, Longleng, the vaccination drive was done for the police personnel and their families to contain and control the spread of the virus as well as to protect the frontline workers, he added.

Asserting that vaccine prevents severity and death the DIO said that 94 percent of Covid-19 dead are non-vaccinated patients and added vaccines not only protects oneself but also protects their family and community by breaking the chain of infection. 

Dr. Imnameren warned that 3rd wave may strike anytime and would be very vulnerable for children. Therefore, the medical team is making all necessary precautionary arrangement for children in the hospital and to complete vaccination of parents and adults before the 3rd wave comes to protect the children from fatalities.

            Senior Superintendent of Police, Longleng, Yanithung Ezung, encouraged the jawans and their families to come forward and avail the opportunity given by the Medical Department. He thanked the Medical Department for their concern for the Police force.

CMO Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla said that full immunity will develop only after the second dose and she reminded the beneficiaries not to miss the second dose after three months. She also urged them to continue to maintain all Covid-19 appropriate behaviour like using of mask, hand washing and social distancing even after being vaccinated.
