KISAMA'S FIRST ART GALLERY

The Department of Tourism, in collaboration with art curator, Anungla Zoe Longkumer opened the first ever Kisama Art Gallery with art exhibition, ‘A way of being’ at the Hornbill Festival 2022.

The exhibition, according to Anungla, is about expressing the changes through art,  that occurs through passage and influence of time throughout Nagaland. She added that the exhibition features 17 artists of Nagaland who works across various media and most of them are self taught artists. The theme of the exhibition ‘A way of being’ emerged as she realised a sort of story was being narrated through the several artworks she collected from different artists. Anungla added that the artworks displayed represented realism, abstract, emotive perspective and balance of culture and Life. When asked about the future of art in Nagaland, Anungla mentioned that although there are many talented artists out here, the need of the hour is patronage for them. 

The KAG aims to herald new directions in art and to give a voice to contemporary creatives across the arts in Nagaland, who play a part in addressing the present social climate. The KAG sells prints and original work of the artists with certificate of authenticity. The artists who have their works on display are Akangsenep Jamir, Arieno Kera, Kutoli N, Lanu Pongen, Limatola Longkumer, Lipokmanen, Meren Imchen, Moaso Aier, Nadia Jamir, Sekrese Mejura, Sinlo Kemp, Sirawon Tulisen Kathing, Temjen Art, Tetsong Jamir, Toni Sumi, Vineizotuo Tase and Vithuse Temi.
