TOBACCO PRODUCTS SEIZED DURING RAID IN MON  

An enforcement drive was carried out by the Enforcement Squad under National Tobacco Control Programme Mon near educational institutions in Mon Town on 24th May 2023.

Numerous tobacco products were seized and destroyed in the dumping area. The raid was mainly to strengthen COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003 in the district and to ensure that no shops are selling tobacco products near educational institutions. As per Section 6(b) of COTPA 2003, selling any kind of tobacco product within 100 yards of a school is strictly prohibited. A total number of 20 defaulters was penalized under COTPA Sec (b).
