4th EDITION OF PEOPLE’S FESTIVAL AT KHEZHAKENO

The 4th edition of People's Festival, an extension of Hornbill Festival started on 2nd December 2021 at Chida Resort, Khezhakeno with Minister of Planning & Coordination and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu as the Chief Host.

The festival is being held from 2nd to 4th December 2021 with various indigenous games/activities and competitions such as, Phe Ke-te (stilt bamboo race), Lici/kuboh muhu kaqa (bamboo horn/traditional trumpet blowing), Lu de kaqa (catapult shooting), Tholo tsu chu kaqa (sea beans), chi-so-che kuvu kaqa (oak seed top spin), tribal hut construction competition, open air concert and many more.

The People's Festival commenced in the year 2018, it is being organised annually by the Khezhakeno Youth Organization (KYO) at Chida Resort under Khezhakeno village in Phek district coinciding with the annual Hornbill Festival of Nagaland. The primary objective of this Festival is to promote people to people interaction and experience each other’s cultures. The Festival is supported by the Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland.

Khezhakeno is a village in the Phek District of Nagaland, India. It is a tourist attraction and is widely renowned for its historical significance. The village was the home to the ancestors of the Nagas. It was home to several different tribes which later migrated over time to other parts of North-East India. The village has a vital contribution in Nagaland tourism owing to its heritage, cultural beauty and historical importance as well as for its natural splendor as seen in the Chida Lake.

The village is 48 km from the state capital Kohima via NEC Viswema-Kidima-Zuketsa road and is 23 km away from its Sub-divisional headquarter Pfutsero.
