CAPACITY BUILDING ON MEAT PRODUCTION HELD AT MON  

A Four-Day Capacity Building on Meat Production under State Plan 2023 – 2024, Sponsored by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Nagaland Kohima commenced on 5th  June 2024 at Chief Veterinary Officer, Mon. Altogether  50 progressive  farmers registered for the training.

Veterinary Surgeon, Mon, Dr. Lhuveta Nyekha, gave a brief introduction and keynote Address on Hygienic Meat Production and Consumption. Resource Persons of the programme were Dr. Manjan Konyak, Dr. Sikhambo, Dr. Y. Yawing Konyak and Dr. Pangdun Konyak.

The topics of the training includes- Scope of Piggery and Poultry rearing; Site Selection and Housing Management for Pigs; Selection of Breed in Pigs; Feeding Management in Pigs; Care and Management of Gilt and Sow during Pregnancy and Furrowing; Care and Management of Newborn Piglets; Diseases and Health Care in Pigs; Housing and Floor Space Management in Poultry; Advantages of Commercial Chicks over Local Chickens; Feeding Management in Poultry; Management of Layers; Common Diseases of Poultry; Vaccination Schedule and Health Care in Poultry.
