Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Mon Division, Er. C. Chinglang Konyak has informed the general public that in view of the temporary passage constructed parallel to Pongma Bridge, being partially washed away due to recent excessive monsoon rain, the reduced traffic users will be confined only to the Old Pongma Bridge. However, the Pongma Bridge condition is very weak at present and therefore, it has been requested that only light vehicles including mini buses will be allowed to ply through this bridge and no heavy vehicles will be allowed for the safety of all the road users.

All heavy laden vehicles with essential commodities and other construction materials etc. may take the alternate route from Mon to Dimapur via Mon- Wakching- Tamlu- Merangkong- Changtongya- Mokokchung- Wokha- Kohima- Dimapur. The general public have been requested to bear with the inconveniences until such time that the bridge is maintained and strengthened to carry heavier loads.
