WORLD RED CROSS DAY OBSERVED AT KOHIMA

Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch (IRCSNB) observed the World Red Cross Day with the Member of Initiatives of Change (India) Niketu Iralu as the Special Quest. The program was held in commemorating 196th Birth Anniversary of its founder Jean Henry Dunant under the theme of 'Keeping Humanity Alive' at the Conference Hall Red Cross, Kohima on 8th May 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, Iralu expressed on the official theme of the Red Cross Society globally is "Humanity to peace". He said the theme declared for this unpredictable, increasingly dangerous year of 2024 is "Keeping Humanity Alive". Stating that both themes bring in humanity in its entirety, made up of all human beings, as the decisive factor in achieving peace and keeping humanity alive by stopping all that lead to killings, he said.

Nikatu said that we should understand an urgent need of Globalization of responsibility and he also felt that everyone needs to go the deeper need Henry Dunant saw before he died. He said that the need for the Red Cross Movement to become a movement that would also " heal the hurts and hates, fears, greed and want of Power at all costs" - not just one that addressed the suffering of the body and material destruction. Iralu stated that giving the enormously increases threats and dangers today due to immense increase in population of Nation, Climate change, depletion of resources, so on the uncomfortable truth is that blaming, irresponsible use of excuses etc. are now unaffordable luxuries to leave behind.

Coming to our society today as we have produced together, Iralu said unless each one of us accepts our duty and responsibility to do what we do excellently and properly as we know all Christians, Hindu, Muslims etc., should whatever our job and place of work may be, our society is collapsing into a black hole created by all of us.

 R. Rose Chakesang MC Member IRCSN who highlighted on the theme said that Humanity is still alive and called upon the people to love each other with compassionate heart and kindness, support the needy. He also reminded them to practice the core humanity values and kept humanity alive till their life.

General Secretary IRCSN Akhale V Khamo who delivered the Secretary General Message highlighted the founder of International Red Cross Jean Henry Dunant. She also read out the greetings message of the Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister and from Indian Red Cross, New Delhi.

MC Member IRCSN Kheviho T Shohe acknowledged the special quest. The program was attended by Founder of Nagaland State Red Cross Society, Khyomo Lotha, former minister Nicky Kire, Abeni T.C K Lotha and Managing committee IRCSN, Patrons and others.

Marking the Red Cross Day, Junior Red Cross G. Rio School Students and Zoe Group presented a special song.

The program was presided over by Vice President IRCSN Helena Yepthomi while the Invocation and God's blessing was pronounced by Associate Pastor, City Church Kohima Zajamo Odyuo. Word of gratitude was given by its member Jonas Yanthan.
