WORLD RED CROSS DAY OBSERVED AT wokha

Along with the rest of the world, Wokha district observed the World Red Cross Day at DC Conference Hall, on 8th May 2024 with Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Ranjan as the special guest.

DC while addressing the gathering, lauded the commendable job rendered by IRCS Wokha unit over the years and encouraged them to continue with the notable and noble services in days to come also. Emphasising on the values and movements of Red Cross Society, he said Red Cross makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, or class rather it endeavour to relieves the suffering of individual being and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. He encouraged all to help society transcend to make our society a safe, secure and peaceful place.

Pastor, Yikhum Baptist Church, Zanbomo Kithan speaking on the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive” said this day is a remarkable day to recognise and acknowledge the life giving services of the members and patrons of Red Cross Society worldwide. Their compassionate services to the kind and suffering world caused by conflicts, disaster, crisis and poverty will remain engraved in the pages of humanity. He also stated human lives with a purpose, so let us live with an instinctive need to be something of value and live with responsible intuition to keep humanity alive through the power of compassion. With the many challenges humanity is facing today he said individuals, organisations and countries should come together to promote positive change and work towards more sustainable and just society to make a peaceful world.

Secretary IRCS, Wokha Dr. K.Z. Ovung while giving a brief report, said Wokha Red Cross Society has conducted medical camps in remote area and villages under Wokha district, distribution of blankets to needy people, cash reliefs and other activities.
Isiah Ability Higher Secondary School, Wokha presented a special number at the program.
